Native Fish
Brown Trout
Known to eat just about anything, even other trout and Minnows.
Spinning for Brown Trout is strictly illegal on any part of the water and members can be dismissed for breaking this rule.
Can be caught all legal methods but prefer Fly, Worm and Ledgered Minnow.
Rainbow Trout
Not a natural predator in the river, the ones that are in our river have escaped from Hury Reservoir.
Can be caught all legal methods but prefer Fly or Worm.
Grayling - Male
Found right throughout our water.
Classed as a Course fish so can be fished most of the year.
No fishing for Grayling on Col. Watson’s water in October.
Preferred baits are a Wet Fly with red tags and Worm.

Are more active on a night time in the river.
Very slimy coating which protects them.
Scavenges of the river so will eat anything.

Another scavenger of the river.
Likes to hide under rocks and can be a good source of natural bait.
Best caught with small nets and squashed bread.
Mino
Tiny fish and a good natural bait on the river for trout.
Easily caught in little fish nets.
Migratory Fish
Sea Trout
They return to the Tees to spawn.
No Spinning for this fish on Lartington Water, fly only with barbless hooks.
There is no other restrictions on all of the other water.
No preference on bait type.
Salmon
They return to the Tees to spawn.
